Lisboa is home to many water features…

Jardim Amália Rodrigues

Lisboa is home to many water features. From its over 15 KM stretch of beach allowing access to the Atlantic Ocean to its many fountains and even the Tagus River which meets its end in Lisboa after its 1007 KM journey through most of the Iberian Peninsula. There is no doubt that water plays an important role in Lisboa’s culture and history.

The Jardim Amália Rodrigues has a beautiful fountain centred in a pond. This place is perfect for anyone. You can sit back and relax in a deck chair while sipping on a drink and eating a pastry from the cafe, you can watch the birds bathe in the water, you can watch as aeroplanes descend into ‘Humberto Delgado Aeroporto.’ Alternatively you can walk around while looking on at the flowerbeds, statues and of course the pond. Situated just behind Parque Metro station it is a must see for all visitors of Lisboa.

The Museu Calouste Gulbenkian gardens is a spectacular place to go and relax. You can stroll through the path sheltered by trees, cross the stream, sit in the amphitheatre, have a picnic and more. It is easy to access via the city's Metro system being only 3 minutes away from Sáo Sebastiáo which is one of the few stations to have access to multiple lines.

There are fountains spread throughout Lisboa including: Rossio Square, Fontes Monumentais De Rossio and Chafariz do Carmo. The fountains are another perfect place to visit while getting to know the city.

Our interns recommend visiting many of the water features throughout your stay in Lisboa! They are a great way to relax and enjoy a walk through nature!
